Very cool... what is it?

Here's the actual answer: it's the insulating coils on a high-voltage power line.

Here's the fanciful answer: it's a close-up of the world's largest guitar string.

I walked over eight miles this weekend and took over one hundred pics, so there are many more abstract shots to come :)

Of course, I like the fanciful answer much better than the actual.

More Abstract Shots, please... that's what you ask for back at the secret bar in the alley behind the Guggenheim when you want the really good stuff.

LOL -- I love the idea of a secret speakeasy behind the Guggenheim. Would they rename a Black and Tan as a Rothko?

A Red Stripe is a Morris Lewis and everybody puts out their cigarettes on the Pollock wallpaper.

I had to look up Morris Louis on Wikipedia--very cool stuff! Thanks!

Glad I got to share him... would have helped for me to have spelled his name correctly :-)

I grew up around very painterly artists and so was never really exposed to modern/abstract art. Then I moved to DC and discovered the Hirshorn... they were running a special exhibit of his stripe paintings there on my first visit; and after two hours full of those soothing, flowy stripes of incredible color against white canvas, I was totally hooked. I had no idea that something so visually simple could be so moving until then; so Morris Louis means to me that anything CAN be art.

Boy, I'm getting a lot of mileage out of this thread; so time for me to go play with Morgan's Tarot, then maybe get some work done :-)
